AN ACT making an appropriation to the University and Community College System of Nevada for use by the community colleges within the System to create and implement a Program of Workforce Development Challenge Grants; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the State
1-2 General Fund to the University and Community College System of
1-3 Nevada the sum of $3,000,000 for the creation and implementation
1-4 of a Program of Workforce Development Challenge Grants by the
1-5 community colleges within the System.
1-6 2. The money appropriated by subsection 1 must be
1-7 distributed, in a manner determined by the University and
1-8 Community College System of Nevada, to the:
1-9 (a) Community College of Southern Nevada;
1-10 (b) Great Basin College;
1-11 (c) Truckee Meadows Community College; and
1-12 (d) Western Nevada Community College,
2-1 to create and implement a Program of Workforce Development
2-2 Challenge Grants. The Program must include the provision of
2-3 appropriate workforce training to ensure an adequate supply of
2-4 skilled workers to meet the demands of economic development.
2-5 Sec. 2. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by
2-6 section 1 of this act must not be committed for expenditure after
2-7 June 30, 2005, and reverts to the State General Fund as soon as
2-8 possible.
2-9 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2003.
