AN ACT making appropriations for the planning and design of a facility for vocational training in Southern Nevada and for the planning and design of a performing arts center in the City of Las Vegas; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the State
1-2 General Fund to the Culinary and Hospitality Academy of Las
1-3 Vegas the sum of $2,000,000 for the planning and design of a
1-4 facility for vocational training in Southern Nevada.
1-5 2. Upon acceptance of the money appropriated by subsection 1,
1-6 the Culinary and Hospitality Academy of Las Vegas agrees to:
1-7 (a) Prepare and transmit a report to the Interim Finance
1-8 Committee on or before December 15, 2004, that describes each
1-9 expenditure made from the money appropriated by subsection 1
1-10 from the date on which the money was received by the Culinary and
1-11 Hospitality Academy of Las Vegas through December 1, 2004; and
1-12 (b) Upon request of the Legislative Commission, make available
1-13 to the Legislative Auditor any books, accounts, claims, reports,
1-14 vouchers or other records of information, confidential or otherwise
2-1 and irrespective of their form or location, that the Legislative
2-2 Auditor deems necessary to conduct an audit of the use of the
2-3 money appropriated pursuant to subsection 1.
2-4 Sec. 2. 1. There is hereby appropriated from the State
2-5 General Fund to the Department of Cultural Affairs the sum of
2-6 $250,000 for distribution to the Las Vegas Performing Arts Center
2-7 Foundation for the planning and design of a performing arts center
2-8 in the City of Las Vegas.
2-9 2. Upon acceptance of the money appropriated by subsection 1,
2-10 the Las Vegas Performing Arts Center Foundation agrees to:
2-11 (a) Prepare and transmit a report to the Interim Finance
2-12 Committee on or before December 15, 2004, that describes each
2-13 expenditure made from the money appropriated by subsection 1
2-14 from the date on which the money was received by the Las Vegas
2-15 Performing Arts Center Foundation through December 1, 2004; and
2-16 (b) Upon request of the Legislative Commission, make available
2-17 to the Legislative Auditor any books, accounts, claims, reports,
2-18 vouchers or other records of information, confidential or otherwise
2-19 and irrespective of their form or location, that the Legislative
2-20 Auditor deems necessary to conduct an audit of the use of the
2-21 money appropriated pursuant to subsection 1.
2-22 Sec. 3. Any remaining balance of the appropriations made by
2-23 sections 1 and 2 of this act must not be committed for expenditure
2-24 after June 30, 2005, and reverts to the State General Fund as soon as
2-25 all payments of money committed have been made.
2-26 Sec. 4. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2003.
