Assembly Joint RESOLUTION—Proposing to amend the Nevada Constitution to provide that a person elected to be State Treasurer shall serve as the ex officio State Controller.

 

1-1  Resolved by the Assembly and Senate of the State of Nevada, Jointly, That Section 19 of Article 5 of the Nevada

1-2  Constitution be amended to read as follows:

1-3  Sec. 19.  1.  A secretary of state, a treasurer[, a

1-4  controller,] and an attorney general, shall be elected at the

1-5  same time and places, and in the same manner as the

1-6  governor. The term of office of each shall be the same as is

1-7  prescribed for the governor.

1-8  2.  The treasurer shall serve as the ex officio state

1-9  controller.

1-10      3.  Any elector shall be eligible to any of these offices,

1-11  but no person may be elected to any of them more than twice,

1-12  or more than once if he has previously held the office by

1-13  election or appointment.

1-14  And be it further

1-15      Resolved, That the term of office for any person elected State

1-16  Controller at the general election conducted in 2006 pursuant to the

1-17  provisions of Section 19 of Article 5 of the Nevada Constitution, as


2-1  those provisions existed before the effective date of this act, expires

2-2  on November 6, 2006.
