AN ACT making an appropriation to the Legislative Fund for use by the Legislative Committee on Public Lands in awarding grants or expending money for certain projects relating to public lands; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. There is hereby appropriated from the State General
1-2 Fund to the Legislative Fund created by NRS 218.085 the sum of
1-3 $250,000 for use by the Legislative Committee on Public Lands for
1-4 the following purposes:
1-5 1. To maximize opportunities for the transfer and acquisition of
1-6 federal public lands within the State of Nevada;
1-7 2. To study water management practices within the Humboldt
1-8 River Basin; or
1-9 3. Any other purpose related to maximizing the utilization and
1-10 enjoyment of public lands by the residents of this state.
2-1 The money appropriated pursuant to this section may be expended
2-2 directly by the Legislative Committee on Public Lands or through
2-3 money granted to applicants.
2-4 Sec. 2. Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by
2-5 section 1 of this act must not be committed for expenditure after
2-6 June 30, 2005, and reverts to the State General Fund as soon as all
2-7 payments of money committed have been made.
2-8 Sec. 3. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2003.
