Senate Bill 249 (2nd Reprint):  Creates Nevada Commission on Minority Affairs. (BDR 18-766)

Chairman Arberry said that he and Assemblyman Wendell Williams had introduced A. B. 174 earlier in the session and it had been heard in the Assembly Government Affairs Committee before being passed to the Senate.  Through unforeseen circumstances, when the bill was heard in the Senate, Chairman Arberry had been unable to testify on the bill and the bill died in committee.  The Chairman explained he had spoken to Senator Ann O’Connell, the Chairwoman of Senate Government Affairs, and she indicated it had not been her intent for the bill to die.  However, as there was no fiscal note attached to the bill and all the respective parties were in agreement, it had been suggested that the language from A. B. 174 could be amended into S. B. 249.

Chairman Arberry said if there was no objection, he would accept a motion to amend S. B. 249, which was currently a bill in the Ways and Means Committee.

ASSEMBLYWOMAN SHEILA LESLIE MOVED TO AMEND S. B. 249 BY ADDING THE LANGUAGE FROM A. B. 174 AND DO PASS S. B. 249.

ASSEMBLYMAN DAVID PARKS SECONDED THE MOTION.

THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
