The Senate Committee on Financewas called to order by Chairman William J. Raggio, at 11:15 a.m., on Thursday, March 13, 2003, on the Senate Floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada. There was no Agenda. There was no Attendance Roster.

BILL DRAFT REQUEST (BDR) 58-1251: Increases fees for compensable trips of taxicabs and driver’s permit to operate taxicab. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 288.)
Assemblywoman Giunchigliani explained proposed changes be made in NRS 706.8826 Section 1., sub-section 3. and Section 2., sub-section 4. to read:
Any certificate holder who is subject to an order of allocation by the Taxicab Authority shall pay to the Taxicab Authority $100 per year for each taxicab that the Taxicab Authority has allocated to the certificate holder and a fee set by the Taxicab Authority that must not exceed 20 cents per trip for each compensable trip of each of those taxicabs, which may be added to the meter charge. A taxicab driver shall pay to the Administrator, in advance, $40 for an original drivers permit and $10 for a renewal.
Senator Raggio explained changes in and fiscal impact of BDR 58-1251 to the committee. He requested introduction of BDR 58-1251 and referral to the Senate Committee on Transportation.
SENATOR RAWSON MOVED FOR INTRODUCTION OF BDR 58-1251 BY THE COMMITTEE ON FINANCE AND REFERRAL TO THE SENATE COMMITTEE ON TRANSPORTATION.
SENATOR COFFIN SECONDED THE MOTION.
THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
