The Senate Committee on Judiciarywas called to order by Chairman Mark E. Amodei, at 11:35 a.m., on Monday, February 24, 2003, on the Senate Floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada. There was no Agenda. There was no Attendance Roster.

Chairman Amodei presented three committee-generated bill draft requests (BDRs) for committee introduction.

 

The first committee bill draft request was to amend the provisions of Nevada Revised Statutes (NRS) 179.045 concerning the requirements for the issuance of a search warrant with respect to the incorporation of affidavits.

 

The second committee bill draft request was to amend NRS to ensure correctional officers of the Department of Corrections who are designated as peace officers by the director have attended the Peace Officers’ Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) academy before being assigned to perform the duties described in subsection 5 of NRS 209.131.

 

The third committee bill draft request was to make various changes pertaining to gaming. Specifically, the BDR was to change the designation from “international gaming salons” to “gaming salons,” require operators of gaming salons to compile and report statistical information concerning the number of visitors and the amount of their winnings to the Gaming Control Board, require the Gaming Control Board to compile and make available to the public the information submitted by operators of gaming salons, and require the Gaming Control Board to release certain information concerning revenue collected by licensees.

 

SENATOR CARE MOVED TO REQUEST A BILL DRAFT TO REVISE PROVISIONS PERTAINING TO SEARCH WARRANTS.

 

SENATOR WASHINGTON SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION CARRIED. (SENATOR WIENER WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

SENATOR CARE MOVED TO REQUEST A BILL DRAFT TO REVISE PROVISIONS PERTAINING TO CORRECTIONAL OFFICERS EMPLOYED BY THE DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS.

 

SENATOR WASHINGTON SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION CARRIED. (SENATOR WIENER WAS ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)

SENATOR WIENER SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
