The Senate Committee on Transportationwas called to order by Chairman Raymond Shaffer, at 10:18 a.m., on Wednesday, March 12, 2003, on the Senate Floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada. There was no Agenda. There was no Attendance Roster.

Chairman Shaffer called a floor meeting for the purpose of introducing Bill Draft Request (BDR) 43-993 which pertains to the State’s helmet law, or protective headgear being worn on Nevada’s highways.

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 43-993: eliminates requirement that driver and passenger of a motorcycle being driven on a highway wear protective headgear. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 274.)

 

SENATOR HARDY MOVED TO INTRODUCE BDR 43-993.

 

SENATOR CARE SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION CARRIED. (SENATORS NOLAN AND CARLTON VOTED NO.)

There being no further business, Chairman Shaffer adjourned the Senate Committee on Transportation at 10:20 a.m.
