The Senate Committee on Transportationwas called to order by Chairman Raymond C. Shaffer, at 10:45 a.m., on Monday, March 24, 2003, on the Senate Floor of the Legislative Building, Carson City, Nevada. There was no Agenda. There was no Attendance Roster.

Chairman Shaffer opened the floor meeting and introduced the following bill draft requests (BDRs):

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 43-483: Revised provisions regarding identification cards, drivers’ licenses and driving privileges. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 483.)

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 58-524: Authorizes Department of Public Safety to adopt certain regulations relating to motor carriers. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 478.)

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 58-538: Makes various changes relating to regulation of taxicabs. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 476.)


BILL DRAFT REQUEST 43-544: Establishes provisions relating to maximum load weights per tire and minimum number of tires per axle for vehicles allowed to operate on public highways of this state. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 481.)

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 43-618: Authorizes Department of Motor Vehicles to require payment of certain outstanding criminal fines and fees before registering motor vehicles. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 479.)

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 43-1039: Deletes provision limiting issuance of citation for failure to wear safety belt in motor vehicle to vehicles halted for other offenses. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 480.)

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 43-1043: Provides that certain leases of motor vehicles or trailers do not constitute sales or create security interests under certain circumstances. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 482.)

 

BILL DRAFT REQUEST 58-1203: Authorizes Transportation Services Authority of Department of Business and Industry to establish system of allocations for taxicab motor carriers. (Later introduced as Senate Bill 477.)

 

SENATOR AMODEI MOVED TO INTRODUCE BDR 43-483, BDR 58‑524, BDR 58-538, BDR 43-544, BDR 43-618, BDR 43‑1039, BDR 43-1043, AND BDR 58-1203.

 

SENATOR NOLAN SECONDED THE MOTION.

 

THE MOTION CARRIED. (SENATOR CARE, SENATOR CARLTON AND SENATOR SCHNEIDER WERE ABSENT FOR THE VOTE.)
