AN ACT relating to education; revising provisions governing the transferability of certain community college credits toward the requirements for an award of a baccalaureate degree from a university within the University and Community College System of Nevada; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1  Section 1. NRS 396.568 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2  396.568  In accordance with the policy of the Board of Regents,

1-3  all credits earned by a student in a course at a community college

1-4  within the System , including, without limitation, all credits earned

1-5  in a course toward the award of an associate’s degree, must be

1-6  accepted and applied toward the course work required of the student

1-7  in his major[,] or minor, if applicable, or other course work

1-8  required of the student, for the award of a baccalaureate degree upon

1-9  graduation of the student from any university within the System if

1-10  the catalog for the community college:

1-11      1.  Designates the course as transferable by the System;

1-12      2.  Identifies the course by the same title as the equivalent

1-13  required course offered at a university; and

1-14      3.  Contains the same description for the course as the

1-15  equivalent required course offered at a university.


2-1  Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2003.
