AN ACT relating to the office of the commissioner of civil marriages; revising the provisions governing the hours of operation for the office of the commissioner of civil marriages in certain larger counties; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1  Section 1. NRS 122.183 is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-2  122.183  [1.  In a county whose population is 400,000 or

1-3  more, the hours of operation for the office of the commissioner of

1-4  civil marriages must be the same as the hours of the office in which

1-5  marriage licenses are issued at the county seat.

1-6  2.  In a county whose population is less than 400,000, the] The

1-7  board of county commissioners may, by ordinance, determine the

1-8  hours of operation for the office of the commissioner of civil

1-9  marriages.

1-10      Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2003.
