AN ACT relating to public safety; making certain documents relating to the information technology of a state agency confidential; authorizing the Governor to appoint an advisory committee on security issues; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. Chapter 223 of NRS is hereby amended by adding
1-2 thereto the provisions set forth as sections 2 and 3 of this act.
1-3 Sec. 2. 1. A document relating to the information
1-4 technology of a state agency is confidential if the Governor
1-5 determines, by executive order, that public inspection or copying
1-6 of the document would present a risk to the public health, safety or
1-7 welfare.
1-8 2. As used in this section, “information technology” has the
1-9 meaning ascribed to it in NRS 242.059.
1-10 Sec. 3. 1. The Governor may appoint an advisory
1-11 committee on security issues concerning the State of Nevada.
2-1 2. A committee appointed pursuant to subsection 1 may meet
2-2 in closed session to discuss issues relating to threats to the security
2-3 of this state or vulnerabilities of this state to terrorist attack. The
2-4 provisions of chapter 241 of NRS do not apply to any such
2-5 discussion and all information and materials, written or oral,
2-6 received or developed by the committee during such a closed
2-7 session are confidential.
2-8 Sec. 4. This act becomes effective upon passage and approval.
