AN ACT relating to motor carriers; revising provisions relating to self-insurance for taxicabs regulated by Taxicab Authority; eliminating the option of partial self-insurance for such taxicabs; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:
1-1 Section 1. NRS 706.8828 is hereby amended to read as
1-2 follows:
1-3 706.8828 1. A certificate holder shall file with the
1-4 Administrator, and keep in effect at all times, a policy of insurance
1-5 with an insurance company licensed to do business in the State of
1-6 Nevada.
1-7 2. The insurance policy specified in subsection 1 must:
1-8 (a) Provide the following coverage:
1-9 For injury to one person in any one accident$100,000
1-10 For injury to two or more persons in any one
1-11 accident........................................ 300,000
1-12 For property damage in any one accident10,000
2-1 (b) Contain a clause which states substantially that the insurance
2-2 carrier may only cancel the policy upon 30 days’ written notice to
2-3 the certificate holder and Administrator; and
2-4 (c) Contain such other provisions concerning notice as may be
2-5 required by law to be given to the certificate holder.
2-6 3. If an insurance policy is cancelled, the certificate holder
2-7 shall not operate or cause to be operated any taxicab that was
2-8 covered by the policy until other insurance is furnished.

2-10 Vehicles has issued a certificate of self-insurance may self-insure
2-11 the first $50,000, combined single-limit, per accident, of the
2-12 coverage required by subsection 2.]
