AN ACT relating to public health; designating the Nevada Cancer Institute as the official cancer institute of the State of Nevada; making an appropriation; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1  Section 1. Chapter 457 of NRS is hereby amended by adding

1-2  thereto a new section to read as follows:

1-3  The Nevada Cancer Institute is hereby designated as the

1-4  official cancer institute of the State of Nevada.

1-5  Sec.  2.  1.  There is hereby appropriated from the State

1-6  General Fund to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the sum of

1-7  $1,500,000 for the creation of the infrastructure needed to establish

1-8  an oral cancer and forensic institute.

1-9  2.  Any remaining balance of the appropriation made by

1-10  subsection 1 must not be committed for expenditure after June 30,

1-11  2005, and reverts to the State General Fund as soon as all payments

1-12  of money committed have been made.

1-13      Sec.  3.  1.  This section and section 1 of this act becomes

1-14  effective upon passage and approval.
