AN ACT relating to regional planning; reducing the number of meetings that the Board of the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition is required to hold; and providing other matters properly relating thereto.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN

SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

 

1-1  Section 1. Section 9 of chapter 489, Statutes of Nevada 1999,

1-2  as amended by chapter 255, Statutes of Nevada 2001, at page 1135,

1-3  is hereby amended to read as follows:

1-4  Sec. 9.  1.  The Board shall meet [each month] once

1-5  every 2 months at a time and place designated by the

1-6  Chairman of the Board. The Board may hold special meetings

1-7  as often as the needs of the Board require, upon notice to each

1-8  member of the Board.

1-9  2.  The Board shall provide notice of a meeting in the

1-10  manner prescribed by NRS 241.020.

1-11      3.  Except as otherwise provided in subsection 4 and

1-12  NRS 241.0355:

1-13      (a) A majority of the members of the Board constitutes a

1-14  quorum; and


2-1  (b) All actions must be adopted by at least a majority of

2-2  the members present and constituting the quorum at such a

2-3  meeting.

2-4  4.  The affirmative vote of at least two-thirds of the

2-5  members of the Board is necessary to pass an action relating

2-6  to:

2-7  (a) A budgetary matter or a matter which involves an

2-8  expenditure of public money; or

2-9  (b) A contract or other instrument that creates a binding

2-10  legal obligation on a public entity.

2-11      Sec. 2.  This act becomes effective on July 1, 2003.
